Final Details

The Scottish Sprint Championships will be held on the 24th March 2007. The event is being organised by Team Nopesport. The Students Union of the university will be the venue for registration. To anyone wishing to purchase lunch/a snack in between the newly formatted morning qualifier and afternoon final the union bar will be open

By car: The University is half a mile from the Calder Junction of the A720 City of Edinburgh By-Pass and the A71 (there are signs for Heriot-Watt University on the approach to Calder Junction). On the M8, from Glasgow, turn right at Hermiston Gait roundabout following the signs for the A71.  The A720 is a dual carriageway which skirts Edinburgh and can be accessed from all the major routes entering and leaving the city: A90 (North), M8 and M9 (West), A702 (South and M6), A7 and A68 (Borders and South), A1 (South and East). Once on the A71 take the next left, go over the next round-about and take the 2nd junction on the following roundabout into Heriot Watt following the signs to the University

Parking: On entering the University Campus and driving up the main drive there will be parking either side of the road. Use car park A which is last on the right before the mini-roundabout.

By Bus: The journey to Heriot-Watt University by bus takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes from the city centre. Lothian Buses offers services 25, 25X, 34, 45 and N25 to Heriot-Watt University. On entering the campus please get off at the next stop.

This year the format will be in the form of a Qualifier & a Final. The Qualifier will be in the morning and the Final in the afternoon. Both races will be very spectator Friendly.

Course Details & Starts:

Qualifier – 2.9km, 45metres climb, 19 controls
First Start will be 11.30am with 1 minute intervals. The course is gaffled. 

Final - 3.3km, 50metres climb, 19 controls
First start will be at 2.30pm with 1 minute intervals. The morning qualifier time will be used to determine start order. Athletes will be put in order of slowest to fastest within their class with slowest going off 1st. The class order of starts for the final will be W18-,M18-,W40+,M40+,Womens Open & Mens Open.

Punching System: Sport Ident punching system will be used for this event. If you are hiring a card please collect it from registration and remember to return it.

Classes: Mens/Womens Open, Mens/Womens 18- & Men/Women 40+. There will be prizes for the 1st person in each category.

Entries are closed.

There will be no entry on the day. (Interlopers are running a 'come and try it' event at the same time as the championships. Starts for this is between 2-3pm. registration is in the same place as the championships)
